"The Drop" (1965) was one of Osamu Tezuka's (Astroboy) short films. It's the story of a man lost at sea trying to drink a drop of water. I love the look of this cartoon. Funny animation, and great takes make up this silly short.
I'm attaching a couple excerpts from the book "The TV Writers' Workbook" by Ellen Sandler (who wrote on Everybody Loves Raymond) about "premise lines" (essentially a logline.) As you can see, the 'but' can occur anywhere, as long as it's communicating the primal conflict.
