Geez it would be great to live somewhere not led by people who think nothing is urgent except for pipelines, cutting down trees, and getting people back to work to keep the money coming in.
Everything, and everyone else, are expendable in B.C.
BC’s 5-11 vaccine roll out is brutal, it is a week behind other provinces, not hearing of anyone who received an invitation to book, calling the phone line is landing some parents appointments (we got one) and others are told to wait.
@BCschoolCovid We have a high number of positive cases in one class at our school in vch - none reported to @BCschoolCovid - just one exposure phone call reported. Vch is making it more difficult for parents to alert systems. Ridiculous. Staff not informed at all even though close contacts
More than half of BC schools have reported classroom Covid exposures since September, with 3,482 confirmed exposures of students, teachers & staff. We know thanks only to parent-run @BCschoolCovid Tracker. Health Ministry & PHO data is incomplete, late & therefore unreliable.
Reminder! VCH is not sending out exposure letters and they are not posting ALL school exposures on the BCCDC. If anything, they are calling families instead, so no paper trail. If you receive a call from VCH due to a school exposure please notify us!
Rather than something speculative in the hopes of the being first, here’s stuff we just plain know:
1. Masking & distancing are demonstrably effective against all VOCs
2. Existing vaccines dramatically reduce risk of infection (~5x) & severe outcomes (~10x) against known VOCs
