Animals were doing their own thing for MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of years and suddenly we show up and pretty much immediately they’re getting run over by cars.

@AlongsideWild True, but there were mass extinctions that occurred due to things other than us humans. We are just especially destructive.

@maayanvisuals @AlongsideWild Most of the oxygen in our atmosphere was originally freed by early life which emitted it as a waste product, right? Then mostly died out because their own waste made the atmosphere unlivable for them? Doubt we can match that, but we probably get the "worst single species" crown

@AlongsideWild I've argued that the car is the single most environmentally destructive invention. I should probably be more specific and just say the internal combustion engine, but you get the point.
